Doing her bit: Oscar winner Mira Sorvino serves dinner to homeless children at charity event

As a mother-of-four Mira Sorvino cares a lot about children.
And the Oscar winner did her bit for the less affluent youngsters in her community at a charity event in California's Orange County.
The 44-year-old Oscar winner was amongst a host of stars who served homeless children at a meal at the Anaheim White House.

The actress smiled as she handed the underprivileged children spaghetti and fun plates filled with castle-shaped crackers.

But Mira still looked good for the cameras, wearing a tasteful black dress that discreetly showed off her curvy physique.

Her blonde tresses hung gracefully down her well-toned shoulders as she delivered platters of healthy food to the kids.
Also getting in on the act were Disney characters Mickey & Minnie, local news anchor Wendy Burch, Real Housewives star Vikki Gunvalson, NHL star Bobby Ryan and restaurateur, Bruno Serato.

Over the years, the Oscar winning actress has been quite philanthropic working closely on human rights issues with the United Nations.

The Mighty Aphrodite star credits her father Paul for her altruistic streak, and he joined her at the event.

Mira's favorite piece of advice from the venerated actor came early in her own film career.
She revealed last year, in Hampton's Magazine, his words of sage-advice: 'In life, it was basically to thy own self be true.
'You have to look at yourself in the mirror every day and be able to own every part of that person who you see looking back, so you can’t do things that diminish your humanity.'

The eye-catching star has extended her father's wisdom to her own child-rearing philosophy.

In the same interview Mira admitted that her four kids, 'are growing up with a bit of a silver spoon.'
She went on to explain her efforts to keep her kids grounded, 'and teach them to be good people who are actively helping others.'

But the supermom still has time for her career.

She has two films slated for release later this year.

Including the highly anticipated Space Warriors, co-starring Dermot Mulroney and Josh Lucas.
